Asher's leg

So yesterday morning, Asher woke up complaining about his foot and leg hurting. Rulon looked at it and the foot, ankle, and leg all the way up to the knee were swollen, red, and hard. I took Asher and Kelton to the emergency room while Rulon and Sage went to church. It was diagnosed as cellulitis and he ended up being admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics. He spent the night last night but the swelling is going down and he was released a little while ago. Yesterday I spent 11 hours in a tiny exam room in the emergency room with a bored 4 year old who felt fine except for a little discomfort in his foot and a baby. Aaaaah! We did have some interesting conversations though. I love it when Asher gets philosophical. He told me that sometimes he likes to call kids "fluffcakes" but only kids who are smaller than him. I told him that sounded wise and that it's probably not a good idea to call kids who are bigger than him names. : ) We played lots of tic-tac-toe and luckily a nurse brought him a bottle of bubbles. He spent a lot of time trying to catch a really big bubble on the bubble wand because he was convinced the doctors and nurses would be really impressed.

Kelton actually did really well. Rulon came with Sage after church and I went home with Sage and Kelton while Rulon stayed with Asher. They are on their way home from the hospital now. We still don't know what the cause was. It could have been a bug bite or a scratch. The actual injury looked like a small puncture but I don't remember him actually getting hurt. He'll be on antibiotics at home and hopefully everything will clear up.

Poor little man. I love that he got philosophical though! I love it when they have "deep" thoughts.

Yikes, Lori. That is so scary. Glad the antibiotics are working, though. Sorry you had to go through all of that!!!
